Sculptor, Bayram Candan, will blow minds again with another exhibition, named “Aciliyet (Urgency)” at Gallery Apel for one month, starting from 26th of February until 26th of March, 2011. I will strongly recommend you to visit this exhibition in case you’re in Istanbul during this period. Below is the description in his own words (both in English and Turkish):
URGENCY
I call these things works which embody a feeling of urgency. I have tried to freeze in sculpture the “single moment” of the objects, objects which may never again be seen in precisely these states.
Something which will never henceforward be seen in that particular size, color, vitality, freshness—the urgency to sculpt, while there is time, the form, shape, discomfort and struggle it has at that moment; to this end I have hastily brought to bear all my resources, and the result is the present exhibition.
ACİLİYET
Aciliyet duygusu içeren işler diyorum bunlara. “O an”larını dondurarak heykelleştirmeye çalıştığım bu nesneler belki bir daha asla bu halleriyle görülemeyecekler.
Aynı tazelikte, boyutta, renkte, canlılıkta görülemeyecek olanın o anki formunu, şeklini, sıkıntısını, ezilişini “bir daha hiç olmayacak” telaşında bir hızla heykelleştirmek için tüm olanaklarımı acilen kullandığım bir sergi.
