The 14th Istanbul International Puppet Festival

With the coming of spring in Istanbul, the festivals also begin to take start one after another. The 14th Istanbul International Puppet Festival starts the 4th May with the Greek group the Antamapantahoy’s “The Strings of Music”. My house is in Yıldız, Beşiktaş (European side) located in a peaceful, safe district. It’s right opposite of Yıldız University on Barbaros Boulvard (1 min. by walk) Central location, easy transportation to all parts of istanbul including Taksim/Beyoğlu (15 min. by bus), old city, all university campuses etc. (by tram, ferry, bus…).

The room I rent is nice, quiet and comfortable also with a balcony+windows. fully furnished with desk, big wardrobe, double bed, TV.  It’s apx. 15 m².

All bills included (heating, water, electricity, internet) except telephone. You will have full access to the kitchen and all appliances including the washing machine and bathroom.
Limitless wireless internet is available. The rent is 600 YTL per month including all the bills.
Also I have two cats and house is gay friendly…

URGENCY

I call these things works which embody a feeling of urgency. I have tried to freeze in sculpture the “single moment” of the objects, objects which may never again be seen in precisely these states.

Something which will never henceforward be seen in that particular size, color, vitality, freshness—the urgency to sculpt, while there is time, the form, shape, discomfort and struggle it has at that moment; to this end I have hastily brought to bear all my resources, and the result is the present exhibition.

Aciliyet duygusu içeren işler diyorum bunlara. “O an”larını dondurarak heykelleştirmeye çalıştığım bu nesneler belki bir daha asla bu halleriyle görülemeyecekler.

Aynı tazelikte, boyutta, renkte, canlılıkta görülemeyecek olanın o anki formunu, şeklini, sıkıntısını, ezilişini “bir daha hiç olmayacak” telaşında bir hızla heykelleştirmek için tüm olanaklarımı acilen kullandığım bir sergi.

MY TURKISH BATH

This apartment of ours is a tastefully decorated garden flat that is located in a very decent and silent street in Cihangir area. In addition to peculiar murals inside the apartment, there is also a private, marble, Turkish Bath (Hammam) in it. My Turkish Bath offers a silent and luminous stay with the help of sliding windows opening to your private garden. The large double bed in the bedroom and the single sofa bed in the living area can easily accomodate 3 people.

It also has hardwood floors, modern kitchen, double glazed windows, central heating, fire alarm, intercom and impressive frescos.

The flat is in a building which we have restored in Bauhaus style in 2003. Our building is situated in Cihangir / Taksim area, near Firuzaga Mosque, 10 minutes walking distance to Taksim square, which can be called as the heart of Istanbul, where the major culture & art centers are located, with many cafes, restaurants and stores…

It is available for short or long term rentals.

Founded in 2001, the !f Istanbul AFM International Independent Film Festival is Turkey’s first and only festival dedicated to independent cinema.

Every February, it hosts some 70,000 film buffs and celebrated filmmakers from around the world. Dedicated to investigating directions cinema is taking, the festival is based around thematic sections, which change every year.

In 2008, !f launched an international film competition – !f Inspired- designed to showcase emerging directors who are taking film in new directions. The competition carries a $15,000 prize for the Most Inspired Director.

What’s new about this apartment is that, it went through a complicated series of renovation for quite sometime. Most of the furnitures were replaced with new ones. One of the raised beds in one of the bedrooms was changed to a normal bed. Walls are painted, curtains renewed and we even hanged new pictures on the walls. Of course, as a result of this, we had to remake a video of this apartment since the old one would be misleading. Below is the new video… Behold! Bohemian Rhapsody!
